A hearty welcome to Sister Margaret Camire and Roxane Day who arrived on April 4th, 2017 from the U.S. Province of the Sisters of The Presentation of Mary. They will be living for one year at our International Novitiate in North Battleford, Saskatchewan.

Sister Chantelle Bonk, director of Novices, will journey with Roxane who became a novice on Friday, April 21, 2017.  She will be with us for her canonical year.  We also welcome at the novitiate, Sister Diane Dube from the U.S. province.  Sister Margaret will accompany her for her preparation of vows for June 25, 2017.  She will also accompany Sister Florinda Palanog from the Philippines who will arrive shortly for a time of renewal.

sister Sarian GomezAt this time, we would like to say farewell to Sister Sarian Gomez who left her region in The Gambia in August 2016 to come for a spiritual renewal at the Jesuit retreat house in Guelph, Ontario.  In December she came to Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, to continue her sabbatical year with the sisters of the Presentation of Mary till April 2017.

While at the house she continued her sabbatical by spending a lot of time praying and reading spiritual books. She participated in the community activities; we were enriched by her words of wisdom and the richness of her African culture. She also experienced the Canadian culture as well. During some holiday activities she entertained us with her “gracious cultural dancing”.

We enjoyed her loving presence among us whenever we were gathered together at the Eucharist celebration, at prayer, during feast days and even at cards with her witty spirit she was able to play jokes on others while playing cards.

She said “I have found the family Marie Rivier’s spirit, here, and the best renewal package was being with the sisters of this province sharing their everyday life and prayer life. I am now flying on the wings of the Sisters’ prayers.”

As she leaves she feels renewed, spiritually, physically and morally and ready with an open heart to receive what her new work will be.

We wish her to continue spreading the charism of Mother Rivier and “to make Jesus Christ known and loved everywhere.“

We will miss you Sister Sarian, we have appreciated you very much. With joy, happiness and gratitude for your presence among us we wish you a safe return home. Our hearts and spirit will be with you next year as you celebrate the 50th anniversary of the opening of your Region, The Gambia.
