Sr JacquelineSister Jacqueline Ranger (Sister Marie-de-Montfort) of the Sisters of the Presentation passed away on October 28, 2017 at the age of 100 years. Sister was born on August 20, 1917 in Côteau, a small town in Quebec. A few years later her parents came west and settled in Kindersley, SK. Sister received her early education there and later became a resident at the convent in Duck Lake, SK. When she was fifteen her mother died and the four girls went to live with relatives in Quebec. In 1941 she then decided to join the Congregation of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary in St. Hyacinth, QC. After her religious profession in 1943, Sister Jacqueline attended Teachers’ College in Saskatoon, SK. Her teaching career began in Quebec and continued in Saskatchewan and Manitoba. She assumed administrative duties at St. Mark School in Prince Albert, SK for twelve years and for four years in St. Lazare, MB. She also taught at St. Paul School and at the Academy in Prince Albert, in Duck Lake, Green Lake and Vawn, SK. In 1976 she retired from teaching but not from tasks in the field of education: she was responsible for catechetics in the schools in Le Pas, MB. From 1979 to 1991 she coordinated religious education for children at Holy Rosary Parish in Winnipeg, MB. After a year of spiritual renewal in Quebec, Sister Jacqueline used her gifts and skills at the Provincial House in Prince Albert, SK. She will be remembered for her deep love of prayer and her devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Her organizational skills and respect for others were obvious in all she was called to do. Her demeanor exuded respect, love and compassion which touched the lives of many sisters, students and friends. We rejoice that she now rests in the loving arms of the Lord that she believed in.

Sister is survived by the members of her religious community; two brothers, Marcel and Lawrence; one sister, Sister Françoise of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary in St. Hyacinth, QC; and one sister-in-law, Mary (Hauk) Ranger; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of River Park Funeral Home, Carla Jesso, Funeral Director.

Her funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on November 2, 2017 in the Chapel of the Provincial House of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary, 1405 Bishop Pascal Place, Prince Albert, SK, by the Most Reverend Albert Thevenot, M. Afr., Bishop of Prince Albert.
