This season, this year, let us be aware of climate change in our world; it is influencing our daily lives.
Fall is here! Another school year is well underway.
Students, teachers and parents- embark on this part of the journey together. New learnings are on the horizon; new challenges wait to be met by our minds, with our hearts, and for our souls.
An important challenge facing everyone right now is how we care for the Earth, our Common Home. The earth belongs to all, so everyone has an important rolerole to play in keeping this home healthy. “May very person living on this planet” seriously think and act on what is urgently needed to be done to resolve our environmental challenges. This is a challenge everyone young and old can take up!
Let us first give thanks to God for the beauty of His creation. We are all responsible to take care and build a beautiful world entrusted to us. We have become irresponsible and have abused the goods that Jesus Christ has endowed us. We do have an obligation to use the earth’s goods responsibly. We have received many elements from the earth, air, life, the waters etc.
It is written in the Book of Genesisthat after God created man and woman, “God saw everything that he had made, and behold it was very good” (Gen 1:31).
In “Laudato Si” Pope Francis said: “Reducing greenhouse requires, honesty, courage and responsibility, above all on the part of those countries which are more powerful and pollute the most”. Climate change is a global problem it affects each one of us, it has grave implications: economic, environmental, and social and also for the distribution of goods.
What can we do to help our country, our province, our city, our village and our common home?
