alleluiaa

Alleluia! Jesus is truly risen! Alleluia!

This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad.

Easter day is commemorating the resurrection of Jesus from the dead.  As Jesus was declared dead after the crucifixion on Good Friday, however, on Sunday morning, several disciples went to the tomb: Peter and John, the Women with the burial accoutrements, Mary Magdalene who remained by the empty tomb, crying.  Jesus even spoke with her! Then one after the other, they believed the evidence: Jesus was alive as he had promised! Their gatherings probably took on an air of joy, of awe, of amazement.  Many individuals then witnessed the presence of Jesus, especially the disciples on the road to Emmaus, who rushed back to Jerusalem to tell the others what they had seen and heard.  What they already knew was confirmed once again!  Everyone must have been joyful and amazed, and hopeful for their future, since Jesus was once again among them.  There were probably many gatherings and discussions about all this, just as people want to do in times of tragedy, of surprising events!

I’m sure the discussion circles began widening, as they discovered others who had seen and heard, even at second hand.  The Good News was spreading!

This returning to life was real, and engendered great hope for the future.  This coming of the Messiah was so different from what they had long expected; many gatherings with lots of recalling of what Jesus meant to them must have taken place!

May we re-discover Jesus even during this pandemic of COVID-19 as we continue our life’s journey with its ups and downs, joys and sorrows, little dyings and renewed life. There is hope for the future; there is a rainbow in rainy skies.

A BLESSED EASTER SEASON TO ALL!

THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS IS A SIGN OF HOPE!
