We continue our Advent journey in faith, hope and joy as we light up the fourth candle. Today, we are called again to prepare a dwelling for our God. God told David that among his descendants God’s Son would come to live among his people. (cf. 2 Samuel 7.1-10) Paul reminds the Romans that the Good News is to be proclaimed to all peoples – the new Christians not only received the Good News in faith and joyfulness, but have been sent out to proclaim it so that God abides in every person. (cf. Rom. 16.25-27)
Mary received the news that she had been chosen to be the mother of the long-awaited Messiah. She became the nurturing receptacle for this to happen. She set out to share this news with her cousin Elizabeth. When the two meet, John leaps for joy in Elizabeth’s womb. Mary’s Magnificat is her response to Elizabeth’s greeting (cf. Luke 1.46ff)
A prayer that can be recited every day.
O Jesus, living in Mary, Come and live in Thy servants, in the spirit of Thy holiness, in the fullness of Thy might, in the truth of Thy virtues, in the perfection of Thy ways, in the communion of Thy mysteries. Subdue every hostile power In Thy Spirit, for the glory of the Father. Amen. (St. Louis Grignon de Montfort)
A very special Advent journey to one and all!
