MAY 15, 2022
Sunday morning, at 2:00, the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary joyfully watched online the celebration of their Foundress Marie Rivier’s canonization along with 9 other holy men and women which took place at St. Peter’s Square at the Vatican in Rome. In 2015, a miraculous healing of Angel Marie Rivier Gegamo from the Philippines was cured through the intercessions of Marie Rivier. Many sisters and friends from different countries including a group from Prince Albert and surrounding areas, were present when Pope Francis proclaimed “Saint Marie Rivier” for the first time. Our hearts filled with joy and gratitude for this long awaited privilege finally being granted to our Congregation.
During the week, special thanksgiving celebrations are being held at different places in Rome and in France, the birthplace of our Foundress.
Here, in Prince Albert, on this memorable day, we gathered in our chapel at 3:00 p.m. for a beautiful mass celebrated by Father Jim Kaptein to honor our beloved new Saint. Former school teachers and students animated the singing accompanied with their musical instruments; violin, trombone and piano. The homilist was Sr. Mary Woodward who spoke eloquently of Mother Rivier, the Woman-Apostle. After the mass, the participants were so happy that they stayed in chapel to fraternize with each other and with the sisters.
What a great joy to celebrate the first Saint of our Congregation during the month of May dedicated to Mary, to whom Mother Rivier had a very special devotion.
MAGNIFICAT!
SAINT MARIE RIVIER, PRAY FOR US.
