Today starts the week of Prayer for Christian Unity. It is also the Sunday of the Word.

Let us join our hearts, hands and pray during the week for all the divisions and problems that exist in the world and of course in our hearts also. Let us open our hearts to refugees and immigrants. Let us build bridges together.

The theme for this week is: ‘Do good, seek for justice’.( Isaiah 1;17)  Let us be true witnesses of God’s love.  He calls us to change our minds and work for the common good of others, to work for justice, reconciliation, unity…

St. Paul says, ‘All of you agree in what you say and there be no divisions among you but that you be united in the same mind and in the same purpose.’ (Corinthians 1; 10)

We can be united together as one Christian church and united in the love of Christ.  Let us pray for each other and for peace and healing.  Let this peace of Jesus reign in our hearts as we are all called to be peacemakers. We are called to be faithful to our baptism vocation and proclaim the Good News to the entire world.   ‘Go into the whole world and proclaim the gospel to every creature whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, whoever does not believe will be condemned. (Mark, 16, 15-16)

This week let us choose the path of love and justice.  Pray for those who  thirst for peace and life.

Sunday is the Sunday of the Word.

We celebrate the grace and wisdom and love contained in the Holy Scripture, the ‘Word of God’. These words were spoken by Jesus to his apostles while he was on earth.  We can find these passages in a book called ‘Bible”. Read those words, reflect on them, they will give you wisdom and they will help you in your everyday lives.

Our foundress Saint Marie Rivier would say, ‘I would like to have a thousand lives to work and make Jesus Christ known and loved everywhere.

Prayer to the Creator

Lord, Father of our human family,
you created all human beings equal in dignity:
pour forth into our hearts a fraternal spirit
and inspire in us a dream of renewed encounter,
dialogue, justice and peace.
Move us to create healthier societies
and a more dignified world,
a world without hunger, poverty, violence and war.
May our hearts be open
to all the peoples and nations of the earth.
May we recognize the goodness and beauty
that you have sown in each of us,
and thus forge bonds of unity, common projects,
and shared dreams.

Amen.
