On the Feast of the Presentation of Jesus, the faithful gathered to celebrate and pray in solidarity with the consecrated women and men of our diocese. There was Eucharistic Adoration at 11:15 to pray for vocations, followed by Mass celebrated at 12:15 with Bishop Mark presiding at the Cathedral of the Holy Family.
The Feast of the Presentation of Jesus is also known as Candlemass a day on which candles are traditionally blessed symbolizing Christ who is the Light of the world. The blessing of the candles by the bishop reminds all Christians and renews in each of us the vows of our baptism calling all to be light in the world. In a radical and courageous way women and men who consecrate their lives entirely to Christ show to the world a glimpse of the life of heaven to come and the joy of the vision of God.
The celebration concluded with sharing a meal and fellowship. Our gratitude extends to the Diocese of Saskatoon Catholic Foundation, the Holy Family Cathedral parish and CWL and to the Our Lady of Lourdes choir.
