This year the World Youth days will be held in Lisbon, Portugal, from Aug. 2nd—6th.

To all the Saskatchewanians, Canada, who are traveling to Lisbon we would like to wish them a happy meeting with Pope Francis and a fruitful encounter with Christ.

The Pope’s theme of the gathering is “Mary arose and went with haste” (Luke 1:39).

Mary left in haste after hearing the angel tell her that she will have a child, the Son of God.  Her joyful yes was immediate and she was eager to spread the Good News and to help others in need.

Pope Francis encourages the young people to follow the example of Mary who set out on a journey, in haste, to help and bring joy to others. Mary wanted to serve and proclaim her joy.

During these Youth days, we wish you all to experience the presence of Christ, the friendship of other cultures.  Like Mary, may you always be ready to announce the good news to others.  May this intercontinental pilgrimage increase your faith and hope in the Lord Jesus.

In 2017, Pope Francis had gone to Fatima to take part in the canonization of the two shepherds Jacinta and Francisco Marto. Pope Francis will again visit the Shrine of Fatima on Aug 5th, to pray and be with the people, hoping that his visit would bring a difference and a renewal to the people of Portugal.
