Advent is a time to prepare ourselves as we wait for the coming of Christ before Christmas.  It is usually four weeks in December.

Let’s be aware of God’s presence and be conscience of the big mystery that will happen on the 25thof December.  Let us take time to reflect on certain words: which is a way to get closer to God.

“Christ the King, Prince of Peace, Son of God, Jesus the light, Mary the mother of Jesus and the Holy One of Israel and others.

Jesus is our light, He enlightens our path, He guides our feet into the way of peace.

We may use our bible and reflect on certain texts during the month, St. Mark chap 13: v 33,Mark 1:1-8, John 1:6-8, Luke 1:26, Isaiah 40:3, 30:18, Isaiah 7:14 John  chap 3.

Let the Word dwell in you so God can touch you in a certain way to enlighten your days towards Christmas, so as to make better your everyday life.  We all need a conversion of heart: hoping, loving and having the joy of having peace with others.

“The closer one approaches to God, the simpler one becomes,” taken from St Teresa of Avila

A tradition at this time is to put a wreath with 4 candles on a table that represents each week before Christmas and saying some special prayers before it.

Here is an example:

Surround me with Your presence, Lord, I long to hear Your voice.
Clear my mind of countless concerns and all the holiday noise.
Slow me down this Christmas, let me not be in a rush.
In the midst of parties and planning, I want to feel your hush.

This Christmas, Jesus, come to the manger of my heart.
Invade my soul like Bethlehem, bringing peace to every part.
Dwell within and around me, as I unwrap Your presence each day.
Keep me close to You, Lord. It’s in Your wonderful Name I pray.
