s acred heartWe should all be rooted in the Heart of Jesus, I hope that you have a great devotion to the Sacred Heart. Just open your heart and unite yourself to him.

The image of Jesus with a red heart is a symbol of true love.  We get to know God by our hearts that is where God dwells.  I quote from Blessed John Paul ll,

“It is near the heart of Christ that man’s heart is given the capacity of loving”.  In 1 John 4, v 8, it says ‘We are made to know and love God as God is love’.

We are made in the image and likeness of God, who is love itself and we are made for infinite love.  In the Gospel of St. Matt. 22 v. 35, Jesus taught us to love the Lord our God with all our heart, with all our soul and with all our mind.  That is the greatest and the first commandment and the second one is ‘love your neighbor as yourself’.  Jesus calls us to live for God and for others.

Jesus wants a relationship with us; he offers himself in the Eucharist when we receive him during Mass and this is his plan to unite and give himself to us.  He is also present in the Word when we read the Scriptures in the Bible or during the Proclamation of the Word.

In John 15, I quote, ‘Remain in me as I remain in you”.  Jesus wants to live in us. He can change how we live and transform us to be a new creature with a new heart.

Devotions to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

“Jesus meek and humble of heart, make my heart like yours”

119

Jesus is in Love!  Yes, Jesus is burning with love for you and me and all of humanity and creation!  Love has long been associated with the heart, so it was only natural that the love of God became represented by a heart, the heart of his Son Jesus.

On the Friday after the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, the Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, on June 19 in 2020.

During His apparitions to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque (between 1673 and 1675) , Jesus exclaimed:  “My divine Heart is so passionately fond of the human race and of you, in particular, that it cannot keep back the pent-up flames of its burning charity any longer. They must burst out through you and reveal my Heart to the world, so as to enrich mankind with my treasures.”

Probably the most familiar image to us is the one given by Jesus to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque in the course of His apparitions to her.  The devotion of the nine First Fridays is one of the efforts to express our love for Jesus.  Hymns, prayers, novenas, daily offering and Litanies are other expressions of devotion to the Sacred Heart.

As the most widespread devotion in the Church, the Sacred Heart is represented in many forms, and many acts of devotion are dedicated to Him.  The Heart is most often found in images as a heart surrounded by a crown of thorns and sometimes mounted with a cross.  The heart may appear alone or at the center of an image of Jesus. Rays of light proceeding from it represent the many graces associated with the enormous love of Jesus for humanity and creation.

Another image of the Heart of Jesus full of mercy and love for humanity was described by Jesus in apparitions to St. Faustina in the early 20th century.  Jesus points to his heart with colored rays gushing out from the Heart symbolizing Jesus’ infinite Mercy and Love.

God continuously reminds humanity of his everlasting love!

On Saturday we celebrate the Immaculate HEART of Mary, for the love that she had for God, for her son Jesus, and for all of us.

Daily Offering:  O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer you all my prayers, works, joys, and sufferings of this day, for all the intentions of your Sacred Heart, in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world, in reparation for my sins, for the intentions of all my relatives and friends, and in particular for the intentions of the Holy Father.

Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in you.

O Sacred Heart of Jesus, for whom it is impossible not to have compassion on the afflicted, have pity on us miserable sinners and grant us the grace which we ask of you, through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, Your tende r mother and ours.
