Two feasts of the BLESSED VIRGIN MARY occur within the month of August

August 15: Her Assumption into heaven

August 22: The Queenship of Mary

During these days we encourage you to say your rosary, it is a powerful prayer that can change the world.

The Assumption of Mary(August 15)

The Mother of Christ, was taken body and soul into heavenwhich was defined as a dogma by Pope Pius XII in 1950.

A canticle that Mary certainly continues to proclaim in heaven is the Magnificat which is recited each day at Vespers (evening prayer)

My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,

My spirit rejoices in God my Savior,

For he has looked with favor on his humble servant.

From this day all generations will call me blessed,

The Almighty has done great things for me and holy is his Name.

The title “Queen of Heaven” has long been a Catholic tradition, included in prayers and devotional literature, and seen in Western art in the subject of the Coronation of the Virgin, from the High Middle Ages, long before it was given a formal definition status by the Church.

Hail Holy Queen, Mother of mercy,

Our life, our sweetness, and our hope.

To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve.

To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.

Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy towards us.

And after this, our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

O clement O loving O sweet Virgin Mary.

During Easter Time, the Regina Coeliis recited:

Queen of heaven, rejoice, alleluia.

The Son whom you merited to bear, alleluia,

Has risen as he said, alleluia.

Rejoice and be glad, O Virgin Mary, alleluia!

For the Lord has truly risen, alleluia.
