On Monday, October 9th, with great joy and gratitude the Sisters of the Presentation took the opportunity to get-together and share with each other on this Thanksgiving Day.  It is always a joy to come together and meet companions of all ages, even if we are unique and different, we can learn from each other. Community creates unity, joy, love and energy.  We all have the same Heavenly Father. Our main desires are to serve the Lord.

We acknowledged Thanksgiving Day by a celebration of the Eucharist presided by Father Michael Averyt.  His scriptural words always influence our lives.  The lively song, “Come to the feast of heaven and earth, come to the table of plenty, God will provide all that we need” was animated by our musicians Sister Re-Anne Letourneau and Sister Evelyn Nedelec.

We have so much to be thankful for in our lives as God is so good, He is always present to us, He gives us His love, and He provides all that we need.  Let‘s take time during the day to pray to Him and show our love and appreciation.

Thessalonians 5:16-18
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

1 Chronicles 16:34 (ESV)

“Oh give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; for His steadfast love endures forever!”

Thanksgiving being a Feast day and a holiday, the tradition is to have a delicious festive meal with turkey and trimmings and pumpkin pie for dessert was a real treat.

Following this, our Sister Kieu Pham p.m. from Vietnam gave a short talk about the English Course that she attends at the University of Regina.  She had brought some food samples from her country which we all tasted with delight.  It is good to learn and appreciate other cultures!
During this autumnal celebration let us all thank our God for the abundance of the harvest season.

Psalm 117:1-2 – Psalm of Praise

Praise the Lord, all you nations; extol Him, all you peoples.
For great is His love toward us, and the faithfulness
of the Lord endures forever.
Praise the Lord!
