On Sunday, we visited Mont St. Joseph Senior Care Home and we took part in some activities to celebrate the 25thAnnual Grandparent’s Day Stroll-a-thon.  It was good to visit our Sisters of the Presentation that live there and we also saw the families visiting their loved ones.  We felt that by socializing with the elderly it can make them forget their pain and troubles.  As we conversed with our Sisters and the other residents, we felt that it helped reduce the feelings of loneliness.

We then watched the Care Home’s fund raising MSJ project of the Golf Balls Raffle.  Balls were being dropped from a bag hanging from a fire truck ladder into a golf hole in the ground.  The families of the residents came out to see it happen.  Those that were interested stayed for the tour of the fire engine provided by the Fire Department.  For some relaxation, some residents were strolled around the building in wheelchairs.
Later we all entered and enjoyed some live-entertainment and watched some fun games for the kids, while we enjoyed some drinks and chips.  Balloons were handed out to amuse the children as they accompanied their families.

Wayne Nogier, the chief executive officer, thanked the employees and volunteers for helping and to all the families that gave a helping hand during the day.  Then he asked Father Jim Kaptein to lead us with a meal prayer before enjoying the well served Family BBQ.

MSJ Home is a “welcoming Christian community that gives life meaning.” It provides the best physical and spiritual care anywhere.

We witnessed the great dedication and commitment given by the Board Team, Care Givers and volunteers…especially for their support, love and compassion for the residents of the Care Home.  In gratitude, we thank them dearly.
