OBITUARY

Cecile Maurice was born in Saint-Boniface, Manitoba on August 15th, 1935. She grew up in the small village of Ste-Anne-des-Chênes, Manitoba in a family with 9 siblings. She attended school at the convent of the Grey Nuns in the same village. After her graduation she moved to St. Boniface and worked at Singer’s Sewing Machine Co. while boarding with the Sisters of the Presentation. It is there that she got to know the sisters and decided to join the order in 1954. After making profession in 1957, Sr. Cecile started her life of service as a teacher where she taught in Vawn, Debden, and the Academy in Prince Albert where she was much loved by her students. Besides teaching in a school setting, Sr. Cecile was the formation director for a couple of years before becoming the Assistant to the Provincial for eight years. Sr. Cecile continued serving the community by being responsible of the kitchen of the big house in Prince Albert, and later accepted to be the Superior of the house until it was sold in 2022. It was then that Sr. Cecile moved to our Care Home where she did multiple services for her sisters. Despite her age, her pain, her bad heart, Sr. Cecile was a joyful person full of hope and faith. We will all miss her wisdom, her humor, and her quiet presence. May the Lord receive her in his loving arms.
