On Saturday, the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary joined in with their infirmary Sisters to celebrate together the feast of the Annunciation of the Lord and the renewal of religious vows.
The Gospel of the Annunciation talks about an angel that appeared to Mary and was asked if she would accept to be the ‘Mother of God’. Her ‘yes’ was a faithful one.
‘Behold a Virgin conceive and bear a son and his name will be called Emmanuel.’ Isaiah 7
Today, in the presence of all the Sisters, our Sister Phan Hao accepted to renew her three vows of: Chastity, Poverty and Obedience during the Eucharistic Service of Jesus presided by Father Tuyen Vu of Prince Albert. The mass was animated by our musicians Sister ReAnne Letourneau and Sister Evelyn Nedelec. During Father’s inspirational homily, he congratulated Sister Hao and asked the Lord to bless her with many graces to live her vows with love and fidelity for the glory and for the service of the church. He wished her to continue trusting in Jesus and to follow Mary’s example.
‘Here I am Lord, I come to do your will’. Ps. 40

Sister Hao imitates the blessed Virgin Mary when she presented herself in the temple and accepted to do the will of God, she too will follow Mary’s footsteps and place her life in God’s hands. Belonging to the same family, the Sisters in turn renewed their vows as a sign of solidarity and community support for Sister Hao.

A festive banquet was served and prepared by the kitchen staff, in honor of the momentous occasion. Following this we had the opening of gifts and cards for Sister Hao.
Sister Shellane Dala took the opportunity to thank all the Sisters for their prayers and for their family spirit and fraternity that they share. She really felt part of the community even if she comes from the Philippines. After spending a year at Mary’s house in Saskatoon, she is now returning home. ‘Thank You Sister Shellane’.

Then we concluded the afternoon with a prayful blessing on Sister Shellane and for Sister Claudette Casavant who will be travelling with her to the Philippines this month, to facilitate some retreats for several group sisters.

We continue to pray and support young women who may be open to Jesus Christ called to a Consecrated Life.
